Bike Riding HIghlighted in Climate Commission Report
22-Dec-2011
The health benefits of active travel (walking and cycling) and their ability to contribute to reducing
greenhouse emissions are outlined in the independent Commission’s report.
‘With nearly 4 million Australians choosing to ride a bicycle last year and interest in this convenient mode of
travel at an all time high, investing in infrastructure and policies to increase the number of Australians who
ride a bicycle is one of the best buys for our health and it makes a contribution to the reduction of
greenhouse gas emissions.
‘Australian governments are also well aware of the benefits of increasing levels of bike riding with all state,
territory and federal Ministers for Transport signing up to the National Cycling Strategy that aims to double
the number of Australians who ride a bike by 2016. Today’s report gives even more reasons to continue the
effort’’, said Stephen Hodge.

Find Your 30!
12-Nov-2009
The Queensland Government is giving away FREE pedometers and cookbooks when you register on the "Find Your 30" website. I encourage you all to register (if you haven't already) for two reasons:
Find your 30 is a great Queensland Government initiative that provides great exercise, nutrition and motivation tips.
The Wellness Program is aiming to promote a "10000 steps" challenge in 2010. As you can appreciate, the cost for the Wellness Program to buy pedometers is significant. It would be greatly appreciated if you could help us keep the costs down by using your own "Find Your 30" pedometer for future initiatives. These are TOP OF THE RANGE PEDOMETERS (not like some of the cheaper pedometers that can be frustrating to use and inaccurate).
To claim your cookbook or pedometer, go to: www.your30.qld.gov.au
Enter the codeword: Exercise (for a free pedometer)
